BDCA would like to send out a massive congratulations to the Bankstown U17 NSW Youth Championship side who won the Watson Shield yesterday against Eastern Suburbs.

Bankstown won by 1 wicket in the 2nd last over at Waverley oval.
Bowling first, Bankstown restricted Eastern Suburbs to 169 with, Reagan Sidhu (4/50), Artav Ramankanth (2/41) and Callum McCall (3/19) starring with with the ball.

In response, Bankstown fell to 6/91 in reply after a controversial dismissal of our Captain Max Condon (21), which triggered a mini batting collapse. Matt Fitzgerald (34) and Aryan Rodrigues (24) steadied the ship and played crucial knocks, helping to get Bankstown to within 11 runs from victory when Matts wicket fell. A last wicket partnership of 11 got Bankstown home with Callum McCall smashing 2 boundaries, icing the game with 6 balls to spare.

Reagan Sidhu was awarded Player of the Match

The celebrations continued at Waverley Oval after the match and also at Bondi Beach with “Who Let the Dogs Out” blasting from a speaker as the team proudly carried the Watson Shield along a packed Bondi Beach. A fitting end to a team who have dominated the last 2 seasons of the U17 NSWYC.
